INTRODUCING INTERNET: A TUTORIAL
-Canadian Geography: Trade Data Online-
PART A: Introduction
The Internet is a network of networks. It consists of
over 40 000 autonomous networks. When you connect to the Internet, the
computer becomes part of this world-wide network of computers.
On the Internet, you can do a number of useful activities such as:
a) exchange electronic mail
b) access and participate in discussion forums
c) search databases
d) transfer files
The Internet is not a company. There is no single authority that
controls the Internet. As a result, while there are many educational
benefits, there is also undesirable material which can be accessed either
by accident or on purpose.
